French Curriculum - 6th Grade

The teaching of French in Middle School helps students develop their critical thinking and judgement, and construct independent ideas, using precise and correct language.

Students perfect their oral and written skills, develop their knowledge of and proficiency in the French language, and build up a literary culture.

 

FRENCH

 

Comprehension and oral expression

  • Present an idea or point of view, taking into account other points of view expressed by peers
  • Effectively communicate in French with adults and peers
  • Develop critical thinking

 

Reading

  • Understand and give specific details about texts read independently  
  • Use textual evidence to justify an answer or interpretation of the text
  • Understand implied meanings in a text

 

Writing

  • Independently write a text with meaning and purpose

Measurements - Problem solving

  • Compare, estimate, and measure geometric sizes with whole and decimal numbers: length (perimeter), area, volume, angle
  • Use vocabulary, units, and specific instruments of measurement for these sizes
  • Use the metric system
  • Solve problems involving geometric, physical, and economic sizes by using whole numbers and decimals

Recognize, name, describe, reproduce, represent, and construct certain geometric solids and figures
