Summer Language Camp 2019

FASSV Summer Camp is a fun and welcoming community where novice and native-speaking French speakers can learn together and from one another!

All children from 3 years old (entering preschool) to 10 years old (entering 5th grade) are invited to join our diverse dual-immersion atmosphere.

Each week’s lessons and activities will revolve around a new theme where we will explore new vocabulary, ideas, and concepts in both French and English. Students will work on both individual and group projects presented at our Exposition.

Session 1: June 17th– June 21st

 Mad Scientists

Why does Mentos and coke cause an eruption? This week we will be exploring all the wonderful insights of science. Each day will have a fun and creative science workshop. We will explore chemical reactions, flight and air. Vocabulary will focus on the different elements. We will have a project planned every day. We will end the week with an Exposition Celebration, where we will share all we learned with friends and family.

Session 2: June 24th-June 28th

Under The Sea

Anyone for a game of sharks and minnows? Mermaids, shells, fish, whales and did we mention SHARKS abound as we explore life under the sea. Each day we will add more vocabulary and important facts about under the sea to our journals. Projects will include nature, crafts, storytelling, and some friendly competitions. Of course, no under the sea week would be complete without some wet and wild water games, as we’ll find ways to beat the summer heat.

Session 3: July 1st-July 5th (No camp on July 4)

 Space is the Place

We are blasting off to outer space this week! Students will get to pretend to be an astronaut by decorating their own rocket ship and creating their own starts and planets. During the week we will be learning about planets, space and the stars. We will end with an Exposition Celebration sharing our favorite inventions with family and friends.

Session 4: July 8th– July 12th

Animal Planet

Get your passport ready as we are off to explore animals all around the world. This week we will be exploring where different animals live and all the fun facts that come along. There will be an animal show at school where we will get to learn all about the animals, and even get to touch them! Each animal will be noted down in our passports.
