Acrylic Painting with Shiva

1st Grade through 5th Grade

In this acrylic painting class, students will be able to experience paint on canvas while using different brush strokes to create a painting starting from a blank canvas. Each painting starts with drawing a basic idea such as a fruit, flower, bird, or landscape. A thin layer of base coat is applied to the canvas to define different color profiles. Each subsequent week, a new layer of paint is applied, working our way from background to foreground. Within 3-4 classes, a beautiful painting is completed. I will seal the painting in with spray varnish for an everlasting gloss and enhanced durability. The final result is a beautiful painting that makes parents proud of their children’s artistic capabilities.

Paintings can be taken home after varnishing is completed

Ceramics Hand Building with Shiva

Kindergarten – 5th Grade

In this ceramic hand-building class, students will transform clay into art by utilizing several hand building techniques such as pinching, coils, slabs, and sculpting. They will also learn to make and attach separated finishing pieces such as handles, knobs, and decorations. After completing the clay project, it will be fired to a bisque in the kiln, preparing it for glazing. One final firing completes the process, and the end result is a one-of-a-kind clay creation. 

There is always a new construction project
with each class. Projects vary by term, switching between decorative and
practical items.

On the last day of the class, all the
ceramic pieces will be showcased in an art show!

Creative Math

In our  creative math programs our goal is to develop mathematical thinking, problem solving and peak students curiosity. We will explore math theories, patterns and concepts and students find a fun way to to enhance their mathematical thinking. We will use brain teasers, puzzles, and games to reinforce and add a fun twist on the learning your child does in school. Creative Math is designed for children grades K-5 and adjustable to any level of learning.

I will teach the students the use of software through different motivating projects. The students will be exposed to:

·         Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·         Drawing Software (Microsoft Paint, Google Drawings)

·         Use of picture software

I will teach to 1st to 5th graders.

The students liked the projects which are different and interesting. They enjoy switching to one software to another. They had to select a monument and look for information before creating their own page of the website.

Martials Arts

Time and again we hear stories about kids getting bullied at school, being attacked, or abducted by a stranger. We are here to educate your kids by learning self-defense techniques! The program includes introduction to basic self-defense skills such as strikes, blocks, wrist and ground escapes, and tactics to avoid and handle confrontation in addition to a verbal response skills to defuse an argument or avoid it before it escalates. This program will help develop kids’ self-confidence, discipline, strength, physicality, street-awareness, and self-respect in which will prepare kids to handle confrontational situations, be aware of their surroundings, and avoid dangerous situations. This program is suitable for grades 1-5. The coaches are self-defense equipped, engaged, passionate, and motivational. They ensure the kids are safe, having a blast, and learning the importance of self defense !

Soccer with Coach Jaime

Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten

Students will learn the basic soccer skills and techniques, such as dribbling, shooting and defense by playing fun imagination games. My goal for children to learn life skills that they can take off the field such as sportsmanship, respect and discipline. Join us for a great Soccer experience!

In this class students will practice basic soccer skills and be challenged to improve speed and agility. Players will learn the rules of the game and the specialties of each position, especially goal keeping. We will learn new techniques and practice familiar skills through playful games and drills. As a coach my goal is teach life skills that they can take off the field such as, respect, discipline and sportsmanship, while having fun! Join us for a fun and great Soccer experience.

This class will focus on advanced skills such as accurately passing and shooting, dribbling techniques, goal keeping strategies, and increasing agility with ladder and hurtles. Students will be proficient in soccer game rules and know the value of team work, sportsmanship, and discipline! My goal is to train and prepare students for competitive Soccer such as AYSO or other recreational leagues if they wish to play. Join us for a great Soccer experience, Viva el Futbol!

Les Ateliers de Théâtre with Patricia

2nd –
5th Grade

Patricia Geudj has been teaching French Classes and Theatre Programs for 20 years in both public and private schools. She opened “Les Ateliers de Théâtre” 10 years ago to develop and promote spontaneity and ability to feel more comfortable with the French Language for students of all levels of theatre experience. 

This course is  will focus on
theater techniques like memorization, concentration, voice, and diction.
Students display their dedication and progress in a small performance at the
end of the course. All props and costumes are provided by the instructor.

Theatre
is teamwork and attendance is the most important. Please check the Schedule

Yoga with Solange

1st – 5th Grade

Yoga is designed to release all that after school energy in a productive, fun, stress-free way and non-competitive environment. This program focuses on healthy bodies, stress control, self-esteem, and greater concentration. The kids will go through a series of poses, postures and songs leaving them feeling stronger, more flexible, confident and relaxed.

Students should wear comfortable athletic clothes to class.
