- Develops and oversees School plans required to fulfill vision, including facilities planning
- Assures that School respects the philosophy of parity and equality between both the French and American elements of the School program

As regards management of the School’s finances
- Establishes a policy with respect to fundraising
- Determines staff salary policy and tuition policy
- Governs the School’s finances and supervises the school’s budget
As regards management of the Board
- Conducts the nomination, selection and appointment of Boards members
- Controls the organization and nomination of Board committees
- Initiates and conducts self-evaluation of Board performances
- Appoints and terminates the Director
- Supervises and evaluates the Director
The Director is the Head of the School and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The Director is:
- Chief Executive Officer of the School
- Official advisor and executive agent of the Board
- Leader and spokesperson of the School’s mission
With respect to the Board of Directors, the Director:
- Implements the philosophy of the School as defined by the Board
- Prepares short term and long term planning
- Prepares the budget of the School
- Establishes and enforces standards for the School community
With respect to the staff, the Director:
- Interviews, recruits, hires and terminates staff members
- Reviews the salary grid and employee benefits
- Supervises and evaluates School personnel
- Promotes and initiates professional development and continuing education of School personnel
- Shares staff policy decisions with Assistant Director, Program Coordinators
With respect to the students, the Director:
- Reviews individual report cards
- Oversees policy regarding students with special needs
- Oversees policy regarding discipline issues
With respect to the School program, the Director
- Reviews and develops the School curriculum with the program Coordinators
- Prepares the yearly School calendar and teacher’s schedules
- Implements the balance between the French and American School time
- Represents the School in the relations with the French Ministry of Education, professional associations and local educational authorities
With respect to the parent body, the Director:
- Participates in the meetings of the PTA executive committee
- Ensures good communication between parents and staff
- Supervises School publications
- Oversees the School Committee
The Assistant Director is a member of the administration team and reports directly to the Director. The Assistant Director represents the Director and the philosophy of the School.
With respect to the Director, the Assistant Director:
- Assists Director in short term and long term planning
- Assists Director in planning School events
- Assists Director in all School correspondence
- Assists Director in reviewing Parent Handbook
With respect to the staff, the Assistant Director:
- Handles benefit packages for all staff
- Reviews School policy with new hires
- Manages all new hire paperwork
With respect to the students, the Assistant Director:
- Assists Director with discipline issues
- Assists Director with student injuries and issues
- Assists Director in reviewing individual student report cards
With respect to the School program, the Assistant Director:
- Manages all state and county requirements regarding permits and licenses
- Ensures compliance to California laws and regulations
With respect to the parent body, the Assistant Director:
- Assists in facilitating communication between home and School
- Assists in keeping parents informed of the nature and purpose of the School program
- Assists in providing guidance and support
The Director of Admissions is a member of the administration team and reports directly to the Director.
With respect to the Director, the Director of admissions:
- Reports current and projected student enrollment
- Organizes and retains application and admissions documentation
- Provides applicants, students and alumnus information and records for administrative paperwork
With respect to the School program, the Director of Admissions:
- Manages the admissions program
- Presents the School, School program and mission to prospective parents
- Assists in development of marketing publications and promotional material
- Evaluates applicants with program Coordinators
- Organizes special admission events
- Prepares and signs annual enrollment contracts and attachments
- Forwards School records for transfer students
- Meets with other School admissions personnel to compare their admissions criteria to our School test results and program contents
The Business Manager is a member of the administrative team and reports directly to the Director.
- Oversees School accounting
- Processes payroll
- Manages accounts and cash flow
- Oversees front office duties
- Develops and manages the School Emergency Disaster Plan
- Maintains insurance policies files
- Oversees Santa Clara County Health department forms for students
The Administrative Assistant and Receptionist are members of the administrative team and report directly to the Assistant Director and Director.
- Greet and attend to all visitors
- Direct visitors and take care of their needs
- Assist parents in filling out administrative forms
- Maintain student data recording, reporting and interaction
- Monitor student attendance, tardiness, early departures
- Order, inventory and store supplies
- Assist Director, Assistant Director, Director of Admissions, Business Manager in secretarial duties and administrative tasks
The Program Coordinators are members of the administration and educational teams and report directly to the Director.
With respect to the Director, the Program Coordinators:
- Ensure the compliance of the curriculum with the School’s philosophy
- Ensure the compliance of the curriculum with the American and French accreditation standards
- Supervise curriculum materials and books
- Communicate with other schools on curriculum issues
With respect to the staff, the Program Coordinator:
- Update the curriculum
- Oversee all phases of the American and French testing process
- Oversee educational field trips
- Evaluate and select materials in consultation with teachers
- Counsel teachers’ practices and continuing education
- Orient and provide counseling to substitute teachers
- Inform and mentor new teachers on the school’s curriculum
With respect to the students, the Program Coordinator:
- Coordinate curriculum enhancement programs
- Assist Director in reviewing individual student report cards
- Assist Director of admissions in evaluating new students
With respect to the School program, the Program Coordinator:
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of academic programs consistent with the School’s mission
- Assist the faculty by recommending professional development
- Keep the faculty informed of recent research findings and pedagogical materials
- Supervise quarterly curriculum outlines
With respect to the parent body, the Program Coordinator:
- Keeps parents informed on curriculum and materials updates
- Provide information on tests process and results
- Provide counsel to prospective parents on curriculum issues
The Technology and Resource Center Coordinator is a member of the administration team and reports directly to the Director.
With respect to the Director, the Technology and Resource Center Coordinator:
- Assists with the planning, design and installation of future network expansions as growth demands
- Take a leadership role in developing and implementing the school plan for instructional use of computers.
With respect to the staff, the Technology and Resource Center Coordinator:
- Offers support, guidance and training to faculty and staff on the technology needs
- Offers support, guidance and training to faculty and staff on the library automation software
- Coordinates the evaluation and selection of electronic resources
- Provides teachers with strategies of how technology can be used to achieve the French-American School of Silicon Valley Student Expectations.
- Supplies direct technology support and consultation to faculty and staff by defining issues, implementing solutions, and formulating strategies for computing and technology needs, in a variety of settings, including instructional and administrative
With respect to the program, The Technology and Resource Center Coordinator:
- Contributes to the creation and update of the educational technology program
- Facilitates the use of existing and emerging technology by staff and students
- Coordinates the development of the library automation software
- Coordinates the maintenance, operation, safety and management of existing school microcomputer and networks.
- Coordinates on-line information and school publication
With respect to the student body, The Technology and Resource Center Coordinator:
- Teaches upper grade students courses in educational technology
- Helps coordinate special class events
- Provides counseling to students on educational technology
- Encourages student development of skills in the use of instructional technology resources.
With respect to the parent body, The Technology and Resource Center Coordinator:
- Coordinates communication between the school and the parents through emails and web site updates
- Regularly updates Parents’ Handbook, school web-site and related informational material regarding the School Program
- Coordinates on line information and publications
- Offers support, guidance and training to volunteer parents on the library automation software
Teachers are members of the educational team and report directly to the program Coordinators and to the Director.

- Ensure the compliance of the curriculum in their grade with the School’s philosophy
- Ensure the compliance of the educational documents/materials in their grade with the School’s philosophy
- Ensure the compliance of the pedagogic objectives and methods in their grade with the School’s philosophy

- Ensure compliance with specific program goals, methods and materials

- Coordinate their teaching activities with their counterparts in the same grade
