Fun at the Frog Prince Play On November 25th the Pre-k students went to see the California Theatre Company’s production of “The Frog Prince” a classic fairy tale about a young Princess who, with the help of her father and a frog (that is really a Prince !), learns the importance of honesty, keeping her word, and being a good friend. Here are some of the Pre-k students’ impressions of the play: Ben: My favorite part was when the King was trying to catch the frog. I also liked sitting next to my Mommy on the bus. Mathis: I laughed when the frog ate the spaghetti! Helena: I liked the pretty Princess in the red dress. Marc: I liked the boy, the King. Audric: My favorite was the frog, when he splashed in the water. Paul: I like it when everyone was chasing the frog. Ella: I liked the princess with the golden ball. Zara: It made me laugh when the frog ate the whole bowl of spaghetti! I also like the red Princess. Jeanne: Sometimes I was scared. Leo: I liked it when the frog ate the spaghetti. Deborah: I liked the Princess’ crown. Jules: I liked everything. Alissia: I liked the Princess in the red dress, she was nice to the frog. Minh-Anh: I liked the witch, she was funny! Jean-Pierre: Yes, I liked it! Alexandre: I like it when the frog jumped in the water and it made a splash sound. Nikhil: When the princess was looking for the frog it made me laugh! Mathilde: I liked it when they kissed and danced at the end! Tamara: I didn’t like it when the Princess was dancing with the Prince….that was scary! Bonjour!
The Frog Prince On November 20th the Kindergarten children attended the California Theatre Production of The Frog Prince. This was a play based on the story of a girl who fell in love with a boy who did not love her! A wizard came along and offered to make the girl and the boy characters in a play where she possessed magical powers. The girl decided to use these powers to make the boy fall in love with her and when this did not work she turned the boy into a frog. The play had many funny moments and the children enjoyed the music and the dancing that took place on the stage. There was a scene with a princess who owned a beautiful golden ball. It accidentally fell into the pond and the frog prince offered to get it for her in exchange for food and friendship; the girl agreed and there were funny scenes with the frog prince retrieving the ball for the princess. We all enjoyed this wonderful production and look forward to our theatre outings.
Pumpkin Patch On October 17th, the first and second graders went on a fieldtrip to Felton. The students then got to ride a vintage steam train through a majestic redwood forest to Cathedral Grove and Bear Mountain. At the summit, the students holding tickets selected and took home a pumpkin of their choice. Both classes agreed that this was a very fun day!
Third Grade Assembly – Time to Learn About The Water Cycle!
4th Grade Has a Great Pizza Party, Fun Fall During November, FASSV’s 4th graders were rewarded for all of their hard work and positive classroom conduct by having a pizza party during lunch. The students enjoyed cheese and pepperoni pizza, along with a special birthday treat from Thomas, who had a birthday on that day, November 12, 2008. The 4th graders also enjoyed the delicious PTA Thanksgiving lunch, and would like to thank all of the parents for their kindness in providing us with the great meal. This class knows the meaning of hard work and doing their personal best during lessons, work times, exams, and projects. Marie-Claire and Anastasia have truly enjoyed working with this talented and dedicated group of students, and as a happy team! FASSV’s 4th graders wish everyone safe and happy holidays, and are thankful for a great 1st semester of the 2008-2009 school year!
Election Day in Fifth Grade On Tuesday, November 4th, the fifth grade class had an election of their own. The students presented their speeches on why they should be chosen as 5th grade President, Vice-President or Treasurer. After the speeches were done, the 5th grade class along with the 4th grade class voted for whom they wanted. Congratulations to all of our winners!
Yet another grand success for Fiona Stemmelin, our very own Gymnast!
Fire Drill Procedure at FASSV When do drills occur? How often do drill occur? Signal Procedure during class time Teachers The Head or Assistant Head makes a sweep through the classrooms and restrooms to ensure all students have been evacuated. In playground area, teachers take attendance and account for each child. The Front Office then confirms the attendance numbers per class. Students in classrooms other than their own are to remain with that class until given permission to rejoin their class by both teachers. Students remain in orderly and silent lines against the fence until all the all clear signal is given by the Head of School. Procedure during P.E. and recess Teachers stop play or instruction, organize classes into silent and orderly lines and lead the classes to the designated assembly area. Procedure when in the library or computer lab Teachers follow evacuation route designated for that classroom or area. The Attendance Binder should accompany the class and be used by the teacher, or to account for all students.
All school personnel are to participate in all fire drills. Parents, guests and community people on the grounds during a drill must participate and promptly evacuate to the playground area. Let’s all be good role models for the children!
